Gala News: Tread Lightly! Presents Facebook Live with Charlene Bower

ORMHOF welcomes Tread Lightly! as the 2023 sponsor of Facebook Live with Charlene Bower from the Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Gala presented by 4 Wheel Parts.

Charlene will be live on the ORMHOF Facebook page from 5 to 7 pm Pacific on Saturday, September 9 with interviews and color commentary live from the Cocktail Reception prior to the 2023 ORMHOF Gala, including the ORMHOF Walk of Fame presented by AOE American Outdoor Events, and the ORMHOF Silent Auction presented by SCORE International.

Dubbed "Off-Road's Biggest Night of the Year", the annual ORMHOF Gala draws a who's who of off-road to welcome a new class of inductees to the Hall of Fame at the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The ORMHOF Class of 2023 includes Jeff Cummings, Scott Douglas, Evan Evans, Helen 'Sugar' Fields, Scot Harden, Mary McGee, Tom Morris, Lee 'Fud' Sieck, and Russ Wernimont.  Rising Stars of off-road will also be in attendance, as the Voters Choice in the 2023 Impact Awards presented by Yokohama Tire will be announced in six categories: Adventure, Desert, Industry, MX | ATV, Rock Sports, and Short Course.   Clean-Dezert will receive the ORMHOF 2023 Land Use Donation, Chris Blais will be presented with the Hall of Fame's 2023 Louis Unser Never Give Up Award, and Baja Pits will be recognized with the ORMHOF 2023 Dick Landfield Helping Hand Award.

Tread Lightly! is a non-profit organization that leads a national initiative to promote the responsible use of motorized vehicles when recreating outdoors. Our goal is to balance the off-road and off-highway vehicle (OHV) users’ need for adventure with the need to conserve the places where they ride and explore.

Tread Lightly! is the nation’s only source for a full line of motorized and even non-motorized outdoor ethics training and education materials. Tread Lightly!’s educational materials include: quick-tip brochures, online awareness courses, how-to videos, teaching materials, and a line of children’s materials featuring Tread Lightly!’s mascot, named Lightfoot®.

In 2003, Tread Lightly! launched its Tread Trainer™ program. Tread Trainer is a train-the-trainer program designed to develop a nationwide community of volunteers promoting Tread Lightly!’s ethic of responsible, motorized vehicles use.

Tread Lightly!’s positive message of balancing outdoor ethics with motorized recreation has reached more than 200 million people through strategically-designed public service announcements for print, radio, television and the web. More than $1 million in advertising space is donated each year to expose Tread Lightly!’s important issue-related messages. News coverage highlighting Tread Lightly! and its message reaches millions of people every year.

The Tread Lightly! trail maintenance projects and programs, some times called “stewardship projects”, are designed to keep motorized recreation trails and riding areas open and accessible by providing much needed resources for backlogged maintenance and trail restoration projects. Importantly, funding for these initiatives comes heavily from contributions from our members and industry partners.

Through the support of multiple industry partners, Tread Lightly! facilitates over 100 trail restoration and maintenance projects every year. Tread Lightly! recognizes that one of the best ways to promote responsible motorized recreation is to get off-road and off-highway vehicle (OHV) users involved in the care of their favorite recreational areas. Tread Lightly! can help individuals and clubs organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days, or conduct ethics education and outreach in their local communities.

About the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame

The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame was established in 1978 by racing promoter and NORRA founder Ed Pearlman to recognize and honor those individuals and organizations whose lifelong contributions to off-road motorsports have set a standard for others to follow. In 1995, legendary off-road racer Rod Hall became ORMHOF chairman, a position he held for more than twenty years, before selecting current chairman Mark McMillin as his successor.

The mission of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is to educate and inspire present and future generations of the off-road community by celebrating the achievements of those who came before.  Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductees represent excellence and achievement in many areas of off-road, including advocacy, journalism, industry, rock sports, desert racing, short course, and rally.  

ORMHOF maintains a collection of vintage off-road vehicles that are displayed at museums around the country, as well as an extensive online archive of print, images, and videos, with more content added as funds become available.  The Hall of Fame Off-Road Registry invites clubs, organizations, events, businesses, and individuals with fifty years or more of history in off-road to apply for Hall of Fame heritage status in the official archives of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. 

The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is funded through donations, individual memberships, and industry partners. A 501c non-profit organization, ORMHOF has earned a GuideStar Non-Profit Gold Seal of Transparency for 2023.

ORMHOF is guided by an all-volunteer board of leaders in the off-road community, including chairman Mark McMillin and board members Frank ‘Butch’ Arciero Jr, Dave Cole, Frank DeAngelo, Bud Feldkamp, Jeff Furrier, Bob Ham, Josh Hall, Gary Haugley, Rich Klein, Rafael Navarro III, Fardad Niknam, Bonnie Vessels, and Rory Ward.
